Measuring What Matters: How Do Organizations Demonstrate the Difference they are Making in Communities?

New Orleans, LA

The primary focus of the symposium is to examine the strengths, weakness and linkages among the various methods currently used to measure the differences organizations are making in their communities: organizational assessments, project analysis, and community impact studies.  Partners in the field of community development, residents, practitioners, funders and intermediaries and others will have a unique opportunity to come together to:

*  Review and discuss how the current climate of organizational accountability and competition for resources has given rise to this phenomenon.

*  Name their most critical issues in trying to incorporate the various requirements for demonstrating impact into their work.

*  Examine approaches and tools that have worked in the areas of organizational assessment, program evaluation, and community impact.

*  Be a critical part of the future by suggesting changes and enhancements to the measuring impact processes.
