National Call-in Day Wednesday, May 14 – Call Toll-Free!
TELL YOUR SENATORS TO OPPOSE ALL TAX CUTS!!
JAM The LINES!!!!
What's Happening:
The Senate will vote this week on its version of a tax cut package that largely mirrors the President's fiscally irresponsible, economically damaging, and inequitable tax cut proposal.
Background:
Last week, the Senate Finance Committee approved yet another round of massive tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans - tax cuts that are paid for by using up the entire Social Security trust fund, borrowing and saddling future generations with unprecedented levels of debt, and shortchanging critical programs.
Despite commitments to keep the cost of the tax cuts down to a 'mere' $350 billion, (or ten times the entire HUD budget) the Finance Committee used gimmicks to create a $421 billion tax cut package. These tax cuts will drain the treasury of funds needed to address our most critical priorities today and to secure a better future for low-income families and the communities that provide them with economic opportunities.
The only things that will 'grow' with this tax cut giveaway are the deficit and the national debt.
The overwhelming weight of opinion from economic experts is that these tax cuts will not create jobs or growth.
To the contrary, they will
cause job losses,
make interest rates soar,
drastically cut programs important to low and moderate-income families,
undermine retirement security for aging parents now and women retirees of the future, and
burden future generations with a growing national debt.

SAY: "I'm calling to urge (Senator _____) to oppose all tax cuts. No tax cuts should be passed while our communities need investments for job creation and affordable housing. These cuts will HURT WORKING FAMILIES and overwhelmingly benefit wealthy individuals who earn more than $320,000 per year. Please Vote NO on irresponsible, economically ineffective, unfair tax cuts, and don't go along with gimmicks that hide the true cost of these tax cuts!
